Agree on 1on1 agenda beneficial for both parties

Here are some topics you might consider including in a 1-on-1 agenda:

  • Start by asking how a person is doing, and talk about mood, energy level, and any potential personal or professional issues affecting the work.
  • Goal Progress → discuss progress on any goals you and the person have set together. Use this time to identify any roadblocks or obstacles they may be facing and provide support and guidance to help them achieve their objectives.
  • Feedback → Provide constructive feedback on performance, and encourage to provide feedback on your leadership style. This can help both of you identify areas for improvement and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Career Development → Ask about long-term career goals and discuss potential growth opportunities.
  • Action Items → End the meeting by summarizing any key takeaways & action items that were discussed during the meeting, and establish deadlines for follow-up actions.
