Communicate primarily in tools where the work is done (e.g. Jira, docs, code repository)

If you want to communicate, choose primary communication channels the tools where the work is done. This way you’ll improve productivity and reduce communication time by:

  • solving concrete problems
  • making better concrete parts of work
  • shortening the communication and reducing disruptions
  • making the conversation much more concrete & rich with examples,
  • giving a lot of context to what you say (code, content, task)

Put comments / questions as @mentions directly into the system where the work is done:

  • Jira, or other task management systems
  • Google docs, sheets
  • Code repositories
  • CRMs, and others
  • Use @‌mentions to target specific people with specific tasks / questions in the context of specific work.

Want to reduce context switching by 2 hours weekly per team member? Use real-time data and micro-automations from calendars, chats, and emails to free up 1 day a month for everyone, with 100% privacy protection. Check out our software and let’s chat!
